NRA's Motion to Disqualify Ackerman McQueen's Law Firm
April 16, 2020

On October 25, 2019, the NRA filed an amended complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division. The action alleges that Ackerman breached its fiduciary duties, engaged in fraudulent billing, and failed to maintain adequate books and records – all in an effort to enrich itself at the expense of the NRA and its members. On September 14, 2020, the Hon. A. Joe Fish, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, denied a motion by Ackerman and Mercury Group to disqualify the Brewer firm from representing the NRA.

NRA's Second Amended Complaint
February 11, 2021

On February 11, 2021, the NRA filed a motion for leave to file a second amended complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division. The NRA seeks to amend its complaint to add a new claim for trademark infringement and to add new allegations uncovered during discovery that are specific to fraud and conspiracy charges against Mercury Group.  Read the Complaint.

On August 16, 2021,  U.S. District Court Judge A. Joe Fish granted the NRA’s Motion to Dismiss several significant claims brought forward by Ackerman – namely, Business Disparagement and Tortious Interference. In addition, the court significantly cut down Ackerman’s fraud claim against the NRA. Read the Opinion.
